Gulf of Maine Visionary AwardUNSM Wins Gulf of Maine Award for Leadership on Sustainability!In 2008, UNSM was selected as the Nova Scotia winner of a Gulf of Maine Visionary Award in the organization/institutional category. The Gulf of Maine Council is a Canadian–US partnership of government and non-government organizations working to maintain and enhance environmental quality in the Gulf of Maine. Each year, this group gives Visionary Awards to two individuals, businesses, or organizations within each state and province bordering the Gulf. UNSM received the award for their demonstration of leadership and commitment to sustainability by establishing a Municipal Sustainability Office in 2007, the first of its kind within municipal associations across Canada. |
